Unafraid – Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times
Is anyone tired? I know I am. I’m tired of not touching or hugging people, I’m tired of staying 6 feet away, I’m tired of wearing a mask, I’m tired of being afraid of COVID-19 or of giving it to someone else. I’m tired.
I’ve likened this time in my life as being in the desert, hungering and thirsting for more than I can have. One thing I have been doing is watching the worship services at Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City. Their pastor is Adam Hamilton and he has been helping me find hope, feeding my soul and quenching my thirst. Pastor Adam has written several books. We did a study a few years ago on one of them – Half Truths. In 2018 he wrote Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times. I read the book in 2018 and am revisiting it now.
I have decided to offer to lead a group study using this book via ZOOM. There will be no in person meeting, all through ZOOM. I will hold the discussion group on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm beginning January 13th. The study will run for 5 weeks and will finish on February 10th.
If you are unfamiliar with ZOOM, or are nervous about how to use it, don’t worry. Let me know and we will figure out a way to get you set up. You do need to have a computer, smart phone or tablet to use the video function. Even if you don’t feel comfortable participating via ZOOM you can still purchase the book and follow along with the rest of us.
If you are interested please email the church: NewarkFUMC@gmail.com to sign up. I’m looking forward to journeying with you in 2021.
