Two Churches Become One – Growing Together

Stained Glass photo by Vicki GeorgeThe Newark First United Methodist Church and Emmanuel United Methodist Church are merging.  In July of 2024, the membership of Emmanuel came to Newark FUMC, and we began worshiping together.  Over the last several months we have been woven together and growing together as one body through the grace and love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  As we continue down this path, here are some very important upcoming worship services:

Sunday, May 25, 2025, 10:00am:  Emmanuel UMC will host a closing worship service.  Newark FUMC will be present and partcipate in this celebration of ministry at Emmanuel, and will not be holding services at the Newark FUMC location.  All are welcome to join us at Emmanuel UMC, 301 East Miller St., Newark.

Sunday, June 8, 2025, 10:00am:  On Pentecost Sunday, Newark FUMC will have a celebration as the members of Emmanuel UMC transfer their membership and become a full part of Newark FUMC.  Rev. Dr. Sherri Rood is invited to join us for worship as we celebrate history by becoming one congregation.  A reception will be held in the lounge following the worship service.
