Our workshop leaders are ready to meet with you on ZOOM!

If you do not have dependable internet access, there are churches near you that will welcome you to participate in the workshop in a large-screen viewing setting. (The host church list is on the registration form are only for the Finger Lakes District) Register for each workshop on a separate registration form by 11:59 pm, January 31, 2023.

Thursday, Feb 2, 6:30 -8:00 pm for Trustees and interested persons

Pastor Jack Keating of the UNY Board of Trustees will address general Trustee issues plus offer information regarding the UNY disaffiliation process and the latest on the agreement made with the Boy Scouts of America and how that affects local churches.

Saturday, Feb 4, 2:00-3:30 pm for  S/SPRC members

Rev. Beckie Sweet, former Northern Flow District Superintendent will share ideas regarding covenant-making, balancing accountability with support, and give rationale for Disciplinary requirements from the Book of Discipline Guidelines and Gwen Prushothem’s book, Watching Over One Another in Love.

Sunday, February 5, 2:00-3:30 pm Prayer Ministries for anyone who is passionate about prayer!

Buddy Heit, newly elected UNY United Methodist Men President with his wife Pastor Karen Heit, will offer ideas for strengthening family prayer, and will host other presenters who have created strong prayer ministries in their congregations and communities.

Monday, February 6, 6:30-8:00 pm Administrative Board/Church Council for Local Church Leaders

Rev. Joellyn Tuttle, Finger Lakes District Associate, and Rev. Emily Huyge, Pastor of Geneva First UMC will discuss ways to make your church’s governing board structure work for your congregation’s vision and ministries. We will explore the many options presented in The Book of Discipline and by other current Church Leadership authors.

Tuesday, February 7, 6:30-8:00 pm Keeping Christ in Outreach for anyone with a passion for Outreach

Pastor Alicia Wood and the Team from University UMC, Syracuse and the ROCK SOLID Team from Christ UMC of Locke and Moravia (Bonnie Albanese, Susan Blann, and Pastor Dan Martin) will share their experiences of making Christ real to their outreach ministry participants and the importance of keeping Christ central to their Outreach efforts. They also will discuss creating partnerships with their communities to further reach out with Christ’s love to their neighbors.

Wednesday, February 8, 6:30-8:00 pm Starting Small Groups for anyone!

District Associate Rev. Steph Brown along with our District Lay Leader, Shafeegh Habeeb, and Pastor Dan and Karen Finch of Wayland UMC  will share the importance of small groups in the life of the church and offer various ways Christian faith, social justice and missions can be developed in small groups. John and Charles Wesley called them “Class Meetings;” we reclaim these supportive gatherings of followers of Christ and call them “Small Groups!”

If you are currently registered for the Safe Sanctuaries Training Saturday, February 4, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM with the Conference you will receive a separate email for that.
