A Veterans Tribute Concert, “For God and Country” was held at the Newark First United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 9th, 2024.  It featured the VFW & American Legion Color Guard, the Newark FUMC Chancel Choir,  Canaltown Chorale, Ecumenical Children’s Choir, local musician Corey Comer, and other musical guests.  Approximately 285 people attended this free concert, with over 25 veterans in attendance.

Freewill donations were accepted to benefit “The Mighty Oaks Foundation”, whose mission is to serve and restore Veterans, Military members, and First Responders communities who have endured hardship in their service by connecting them to a new life purpose in Christ through resiliency and peer-to-peer recovery programs.

A reception hosted by the VFW Auxiliary and Newark First Women in Faith was held in the church lounge immediately following the concert.
